What does a perfect brief look like?

A production's quality depends as much on the brief as on the execution. Here's what, in our experience, saves a project weeks.

A perfect brief doesn't mean an exhaustive one. Some of the smoothest projects we've run started from a single-page document — but every line answered a real production question.

The first essential element is the business goal behind the campaign. Knowing whether the content needs to drive awareness, conversion, or social engagement shapes format choices that art direction alone can't settle.

The second is visual reference. A moodboard of three well-chosen images often communicates more effectively than a full paragraph of adjectives — 'premium', 'organic' or 'bold' read differently from studio to studio.

The third is the distribution constraint: formats, platforms, mandated durations. Defining these at brief stage avoids last-minute recrops that often damage the original composition.

Finally, a good brief names a single decision-maker on the client side. Nothing slows a project down more than an approval that has to climb a chain of command at every step.
